About

I’ve been working in journalism and communications for more than 25 years. I started in newspapers, writing for community weeklies, then midsize dailies. I then jumped to magazines and trade press (I can talk for hours about electronic recycling, the best practices of a metal recycling facility and nuclear waste as it relates to America’s current crisis.).

And then it was 2011, when traditional publishing was beginning a downward slide after the recession, and my career took an interesting turn. My magazine closed, and I was at a loss as to what to do next – so I freelanced and connected with a startup that was looking to bring hyperlocal content for newspaper and TV websites – think of it as if the Associated Press, only if it came to Houston and covered only Cypress Springs and Katie and all the other outlying burgs.

But, in media, nothing lasts forever. Today’s byline lines tomorrow’s kitty box and today’s story might be forgotten as soon as it’s over. That job ended and I did a stint in retail before another interesting twist arose in my career – I was hired as the investigative reporter (first ever!) at WKBN in Youngstown. Now, I write, I shoot, I edit, I even produce a bit.

All of this is now going to be listed in a most clinical fashion, my resume.
